9th May, 1970, many thousands assembled in Trafalgar Square, London, and marched to the American Embassy in Grosvenor Square to protest the Vietnam War and particularly the recent killing of student protestors at Kent State University, Ohio. Altercations with horse-mounted police led to rioting when police decided to push back against the thousands of crowded people. I was taking pictures for my student newspaper at The City University.
